Our Web Development Process

1

Define the business goals of your web development effort.

Without alignment to concrete business goals, most commercial website efforts will fail. We start with your business goals in mind. Every decision made while creating your website is assessed against your business goals.

2

Define the major features of your web application. Align each feature with specific business goals.

Before we touch a keyboard to code anything we itemize the major features you need to meet your business goals. Every feature is aligned with a business goal to ensure we aren't wasting time and money creating features of questionable business value.

3

Create the organizational structure and site map.

Proper organization is important from the standpoint of both human visitors and search engines. We design your website for both.

4

Create wireframe mockups of main graphic design and page layouts.

Before taking a lot of time ironing out tiny details, we iron out the big picture first. We create wireframes that allow you to conceptually review the design and layout. Without nailing that down first it's like building a house without a proper foundation. If you don't have a sturdy foundation you might very well be starting over from scratch later. We don't like starting over from scratch.

5

Prioritize business goals and features

After the business goals have been defined, features have been outlined, and the wireframes approved, we prioritize everything. We work from highest to lowest priority.

6

Build Iteration: Build each feature in priority order. Each iteration approximately 2 weeks.

We break our work down into approximately 2 week periods. Each period we call an "iteration." We focus on a single feature at a time and at the end of each period of work we give you a demo.

7

Review progress; Review feature list; Choose next feature to deliver.

You are in control and after each iteration — you can keep us around or kick us to the curb. After each iteration we review progress together. You choose if we should keep going or if we should call it a day, shake hands, and go on our merry way. If we've provided you some value and you want to continue with our partnership, we work together to select the next feature to develop and continue the cycle until the web development is complete or you make the call that the remaining features don't add enough business value to justify the cost.
